Friday 28th February 2014 was a scorching hot day with the temperature reaching 37C, calm seas and blistering sand. This was the scene for the annual novelty beach carnival. [Remember last year had to be halted mid-way due to thunderstorms!]
Fortis was well represented with the majority of our students participating either as a competitor or as a supporter. For those of you who chose to take the day off to make an extended weekend I am disappointed by your attitude and what it says about you as a team player. Remember the foundations of your work ethic and approach to life are being laid now and just because you are not a sporty person or don't enjoy beach activities it doesn't mean you cannot support your colleagues. Many people had put hours of hard work into organising the event. However, should you still not want to participate then you should have been at school continuing with your normal studies. I notice not many took that option.
For those of us who were there it was a great, fun, day although I suspect many of us were a great deal redder/sunburnt come Saturday morning as a large number of students were not following the sunsmart guidelines too closely.
Well done to all of you who participated in one or many events. I know that many of you pushed yourself a little too far [Luke, Alex, Dakota........] but it was fabulous to see so many of you actively involved.
As you know I took quite a few photos - too many to post here so I have included the link to the file where they are stored. Feel free to share/print them should you wish to.
